Birthday photos at the melting pot.

Hop on over to: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brionesphotos/ to see our photos from my birthday dinner. Caution, may cause sudden hunger.

I was thinking of either going to the melting pot or a japanese steakhouse for my birthday dinner. These photos look appetizing, but you've been to both... what's your advice?

Hey! I guess it depends on how you feel and how much you want to spend. I think we spent $65 at the Japanese steakhouse, and over $100 at the melting pot. You can spend less at both, but we were feeling celebratory, and got things we don't normally get. We've gone to the melting pot and only spent about $70 on a full meal.

The melting pot has a nice, romantic atmosphere also, unlike the Japanese steakhouse which you share a huge table with several other people, kids, people celebrating things themselves, so if you're looking for something more intimate, that may not be the best choice. The melting pot can take about 2 hours to get through the whole thing because they have to bring out new pots for each course, but I love eating slow like that. It's great for conversation because it's long and quiet and relaxing.

If you want a good (big) meal that's a little quicker, then you may want to go with the japanese steakhouse.

    Hope that helps!

Great advice! We are inviting several other people, so the Japanese Steakhouse will probably be better. Chad and I will visit the melting pot some other time by ourselves, or with only a couple other people. Hopefully we can get enough people to go to the japanese steakhouse so we won't have to share a table. :) It would probably be more affordable for other people, too.

    Thanks again!

Perfect! That will be fun with a lot of people. I hope you have fun! You could get them to sing the Japanese birthday song :)
