there was nothing i could do

A weird thing happened today while we were out getting lunch today at Burger King. We just picked up our order from the counter and I joined Stephanie who as getting ketchup. All the sudden this lady that was in line started screaming angrily so everyone in the area turned around a looked where a young male had fallen, and by the way the lady was screaming he had landed on her daughter. A million things were going on in the heads of 20 or 30 people standing around look at what had happened. The poor guy who had fallen was dumbstruck. He couldn't say a word, or maybe he chose not to say a word. At least that's what the lady thought. I was starting to think fell involuntarily, something I don't think she had even considered by the way she kept yelling at him inappropriately. She tried begged for the people in line with her to try and explain what had happened, but nobody would say a word. We decided to take our seats around the corner and very soon after the guy walked out.

This situation just really made Stephanie and I think for quite a while. Why didn't anybody else thing it was obvious that this guy fell involuntarily? In afterthought, it seemed pretty obvious to me by the way he was positioned when I looked at him for the first time coupled with his inability to communicate what happened to the mother. And secondly, why could anybody say what had happened? There had to be at least one person who saw everything, but everyone who was closest chose to remain silent. I wish I would have done something, even though I didn't have all the facts. :/

2/2 is better than 1/1

Well, we're coming close to getting things ready. If you received a postcard from us that has our new mailing address, it's wrong. Not like, "Whoops, we put the wrong address on there" wrong. Wrong like we have a different apartment number. It's a crazy story, but the ending is that we are now in a 2/2 for $50 off for the first 5 months, as opposed to the 1/1 we WERE going to be in. How cool is that?

Most of you probably didn't notice that about 4 or 5 days after my first post I changed to a completely different system. Same theme, but different everything else. I started out using Typo built on Ruby on Rails, but it turns out even though I really wanted to be adventurous and hack at Typo, it's a little much to use at this point. So, I switch to the tried and true Wordpress on PHP to get the job done. Wordpress has always been easy to setup, but I got this up in going in like 10 minutes simple. I've been tweaking here and there and I think Stephanie got a little jealous. So, I got her one up to! She hasn't put anything there yet, but we'll put the word out as soon she does!

I guess I should get some sleep. I leave you with this: In the center of this image you'll notice two "high rise" buildings right near each other. This is the Covington Rivercenter. I will be working in the tower to the left, 3rd floor. Nice river view. :) Maybe next time I'll have something insightful to say.

new beginnings

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to… I prefer to have my own space. Be able to hack at the code, make it my own. Stephanie and I finally registered a personal domain, brionesandco.com. I thought it was a pretty snazzy name. It really embodies the blending of our personal and professional lives. Maybe we’ll do something with it soon, you know, other than blog. :)

In other beginnings it turns out the grass is BLUER on the other side. At least for Stephanie, Daisy and I. Yup, we’re moving to Cincinnati, OH (Covington, KY). We are very excited! We’ll be tearing out of Columbus, GA on Sept 8th, a mere 30 days away so keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We plan to secure a new place to live by this weekend. Yikes.

Ahh… Another season whithers, and a new season blossoms. The weather looks good ahead, but you never really know until you get there, do you? I think, if you keep an open mind, you’ll probably be just fine.
